**Background**
Cancer remains a significant global health challenge, characterized by uncontrolled cell proliferation and the evasion of apoptosis. Among various malignancies, lymphoma, oral epidermal cancer, and breast cancer present distinct therapeutic challenges due to their aggressive nature and potential for metastasis. Research into natural compounds has revealed that hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives often possess potent biological activities, including antioxidant and antiproliferative properties, which can be leveraged to develop novel therapeutic strategies. In particular, the inhibition of tyrosinase and the reduction of oxidative stress are key areas of interest in managing cellular dysfunction associated with malignancy. In this context, we will introduce a hydroxycinnamic acid derivative – 5-Feruloylquinic acid.
**Definition**
5-Feruloylquinic acid (5-FQA) is a hydroxycinnamic acid derivative and a phenylpropanoid that acts as a tyrosinase inhibitor and an antioxidant. According to the 5-Feruloylquinic acid description, this compound can be isolated from green coffee beans and exhibits significant anticancer activity.
**In Vitro Studies**
Regarding 5-Feruloylquinic acid biological activity, the compound has demonstrated a notable ability to inhibit tyrosinase activity and provide antioxidant protection. In terms of its effects on 5-Feruloylquinic acid Cancer research, in vitro studies have shown that it possesses anti-proliferative effects across several cell lines. Specifically, 5-Feruloylquinic acid in vitro assays revealed that the compound is effective against U937, KB, MCF-7, WI38, and WI38VA cell lines. Among these, it exhibited an IC50 value of 0.56 mM for KB cells. These findings suggest that 5-Feruloylquinic acid may serve as a lead compound for the development of treatments targeting lymphoma, oral epidermal cancer, and breast cancer. In conclusion, 5-Feruloylquinic acid is a natural phenylpropanoid with potent antioxidant, tyrosinase inhibitory, and anticancer properties.
